Vw beetle golf jetta automatic to 5 speed swap note this is for the tdi only the 18t and vr6 are similar but wiring and programming are almost 100 different so why do you want to swap 1 the 01m automatic transmission is junk and at 4500 used its expensive junk 2 the 02j 5 spe. How do i override the auto box starter inhibitor and allow the car to start on the ignition key have changed auto box and converted to manual get ignition lights but car wont start on key lights come on but no starter any advice wiring diagram etc appreciated thanks. I think auto stick conversions should only be done if the transmission isnt functioning i think they are kind of nifty but it is true that finding parts is a pain for the most part you are buying used parts that you hope work better than the ones you have so it is always time consuming and ify so i can see where changing to a manual makes time money sense if you would have to be buying . Hello i am new to this website and to type 1s i know most people prefer to just learn to drive manual cars instead of converting to automatics i also hear that auto stick trans are hard to find and arent good ive thought about putting a newer model vw automatic transmission in a beetle or maybe using pg or th350 another idea is a subaru powered vw with an automatic but i have no idea . Vw used a semi automatic transmission in some beetles from 1968 1976 id assume that if you can find one of those semi auto transaxles you could swap it in place of the manual and have it fit etc fitting a more conventional automatic transmission to the rear engined beetle might be more of a challenge but i bet somebody has done it beforeask around at any vw beetle clubs etc you can
